Having low self esteem and a poor body image can be absolutely debilitating and affect almost every aspect of your life, so if you aren’t a big fan of your body these days, do something about it. Loving your body is an important part of being a healthy happy human being, so do whatever it takes to reconnect with your body and feel awesome about the way you look again. The following is a look at some of the ways you can overcome poor body image.

Get in shape

Break out of that rut and give yourself something to feel proud of by getting in better shape. More often than not, all it takes is to start making an effort, so whether you hit the gym or join a local touch football team, make a commitment to get in shape starting from today.

Get counselling

Regardless of how good you look, if you have low self-esteem you will always have problems looking at your body in a positive light, so consider getting some counselling to help you work through any issues that may be negatively impacting your view of yourself. Often, poor self-esteem comes from some deeply held negative belief about yourself, and by getting some counselling you may be able to uncover this issue and deal with it once and for all.

Get surgery

If your negative body image is connected to something physical about your body that is possible to change, having the surgery done to change it may make all the difference. Whether you have a breast enlargement done or get a laser hair transplant, surgery can completely change the way you feel about yourself. If it takes new hair, a new nose, or a boob job to help create a positive body image, your resulting happiness is worth every cent of the investment.

Get better friends

If your negative body image is due to being put down or ridiculed by your friends, or peer pressured into looking a particular way, these are not real friends, and you should get rid of them before they totally destroy your self-esteem. Your friends should be supporting you rather than making you feel bad, so if your so-called friends are making you feel bad about your body and yourself, stop hanging out with them, as they are only trying to make themselves feel better at your expense.

Update your wardrobe

It can be hard to feel good about yourself if your wardrobe is nothing special, so update it by getting yourself some clothes that make you look good and which are flattering to your body type. Clothes that actually fit can make you look a whole lot better, and don’t be afraid to get items that highlight those gorgeous features of yours.

You should make a big effort to build and maintain a healthy body image for yourself, and you’ll find others are more likely to like the way you look too.
